I'm new here, and just discovered the Grom. I am currently deployed but thinking seriously about getting one of these when I get back. I just wanted to see what the chances were of me being able to fit the wife on the back of one of these. My last bike was a supermotard and she loved riding on it and is used to a 2x4 seat lol. What do yall think? And how easy are these to wheelie? (how much clutch is needed to get it up? lol) Thanks guys!

I don't think the Grom would be able to get out of its own way with another 100 lbs of passenger, but I haven't tried it. I haven't tried it for that reason. Don't think the power is there. Stay low. Come home safe, bro. God bless you.

We ride 2 up on the 50cc Zumas at work. I'm 200# and my co-workers are probably 190.

Now, we're just riding around on campus, not out on city streets or the highway, but we can still make 25 mph or so and even get up the hill. The Zuma 125s handle the same job a lot easier.

If you're riding around in the city (downtown, and not San Francisco or something with ridiculous hills), I'd think a Grom could handle a passenger. If you're in a very hilly city or in the burbs where the speeds are likely higher then I'd think twice. Some tiny little MotoGP rider w/ their 100# girlfriend would likely be ok.

Thanks everybody! Hopefully when I get home I can at least track down a dealer and look at it in person to see what I think about it. I used to work at a Honda dealer in SC and I emailed them to see if they have one I could check out. 30ish more days and I'm on my way home!!!!! I'm also thinking I could teach the wife how to drive this then build the crf450sm I've been wanting to build. These bikes look like a blast though!

I had to pick up my sister from my parents house the other day on my grom.

I'm 5'3" 145 and she is 5'4"120 pounds...

It worked well for us. But stopping and then putting my foot down felt very different since i was hold up another 120 pounds.

I should have took a pic but it was 45 degrees and i wanted to get home asap...

PS. She was yelling at me in front of my kids, so my payback was I drove as fast as i safely could. I had on a Full face nolan, 3 layers of jackets, first gear over pants, and held warm n dry gloves. I was nice and warm

She had a jacket, open face helmet and jeans... ;-)

That was mean but she told me i was a bad parent to my boys and i was going to screw them up because i didn't want to give them a piggy back ride???

I've rode two up at least 250 of my 400 miles on the grom. Me an my girlfriend always rode a zuma together. Honestly straight line isn't much different. It doesn't accelerate as fast but uphill you slow down a little faster. I never felt unsafe doing it though. I'm 5'10" 200 pounds and she's 5'4" 100 pounds.

I'm 5'5 180lb, and my girlfriend is 5'2 100lb, I've had her on the back of the GROM once, she said it felt like she would fall back if she didn't hold on tight enough. Power wise not too bad, still picks up and goes well, just has you worried about the passenger.

Took my daughter on a single ride (90 pounds) and the Grom was noticeably sluggish both in power and handling. I weigh in at 160. I was not comfortable and my daughter did not have much room to sit.

If I can find a nice rearset without passenger pegs, they are coming off.

I ride daily with my gf on the back I'm 5'11 70kg and she is 5'6 and 55kg... she never really complains and I still have fun weaving through the traffic.... we tried a little bridge jump the other day and probably won't do it again but it still worked out ok and was fun to try... there is one advantage to having a pillion a lot of the time... when u dont have one and you ride alone the bike is a whole new animal - feels powered and lithe... super fun :) (oh and sloding the rear into corners and burnouts at the trsffic lights work again when ur solo lol(

i rode two up, and it was pretty awesome haha. Im 5'7 145lbs, she was 5'3ish , 120lbs ish. I think the only qualm about it, was that my seat isn't level (not that i should be) but she was sliding into me, forcing me to ride somewhat further fwd than i prefer without someone behind. But alas, this isn't really a big problem. Two small people are needed for riding 2 up though. There just isn't enough real estate other wise lolol
