New to the forum, just got my grom a week ago. Bike already had a tyga slip on pipe on it, under seat taillight kit, and done an airbox mod (removed that tube and got rid of the screen i think, i havent broken it open yet to check).

Anyway, i've read the threads on intakes, and K&N cone filters and other ideas for airbox mods, but i'm trying to keep my bike as stock as possible (for as long as i can before the itch completely gets to me haha!).

But i read something about a 250r filter (K&N part number KA-2508, like this one K N Ka 2508 Air Filter Ninja 250R 08 12 EX300F Ninja 300 13 | eBay) possibly fitting in the stock airbox but there was never any confirmation on that thread if it did or not. Dimensions of this filter are 8.25" x 5.375" x .625". Haven't broken my bike apart yet to check what the stock size is so i was hoping someone would know.

if anyone has tried this filter out, how has it worked out for you? Or, does anyone have opinions on if a filter of this type would be beneficial at all? If it does happen to fit, i was thinking of drilling out some holes in the box and pairing it with this, otherwise i'll go with a cone filter.

Thanks in advance everyone

What I did was order the K&N filter for the Honda Ruckus, and then I cut the stock Grom filter out of the filter frame and then installed/glued the K&N filter in it place. It turned out great.

Thanks bud, that's the kind of responses i was looking for! My bike is doing 65 mph with no problems (and from what i read thats decent for just a pipe and slight airbox mod) so i dont plan on seeing any speed gains from this, i figured it may change the throttle response a slight bit and maybe make the bike sound a little different also. Did you cut the stock airbox at all, or remove the tube or do anything else? or is everything completely stock except for the filter?

yea saw that one in another thread. looks awesome and probably the best option for what i want but 30 or 40 bucks for a K&N is enough for an air filter in my opinion, cant justify spending 100+ bucks on a filter. preciate the info though

I removed the snorkels from the stock air box, both of them, and no I did not have to cut the ruckus K&N filter, I just cut the stock grom paper filter out of the filter frame. then I slipped the Ruckus K&N into the void and put a sealant around the edge for a air tight seal.

I used a dremel wheel to cut the old filter out and the plastic to get the K&N filter to slip in with a little pressure, Like a press/friction fit. Take your time with the dremel and it will be messy.

saw this thread ( http://www.hondagrom.net/forums/49-grom-how-s-guides/1240-high-flow-air-filter-mod-diy.html ) and found one of these unis for 10 bucks, so i just ordered it and i'll give it a try. ive had good luck with uni's in the past and have some uni filter oil at the house already and it was a cheap option to try so i went for it. i'll write a review on here after i get it done next week some time. thanks for the input everyone.

Unrelated note, also have LED flush mount front and rear blinkers coming in today which i will be using with a flasher from MNNTHBX (ELFR-1) that is supposed to work with any setup without resistors etc., so i'll write a review on that too this weekend. thanks again fellas, gunna be in the 60s and sunny this weekend here, hoping to put some miles in!
