Not looking for a war here but it just seems like the easy way out. It just screams easy and cheap to me. I understand the idea of it not being permanent etc and that kind of being cool...I see it being used on forks and everything. Why not powder, paint or anodize?

I had it on my forks, pegs, peg brackets. I have only 100 or so miles on my bike and this stuff didn't hold up well at all. And it was applied properly too. Also not the most fun stuff to remove. Powdercoating is the way to go.

Not trying to insult but you might have not applied it properly or maybe not enough. I've had plasti dip on the front badge of my car for over a year and I drive 100 miles round trip everyday to work into NYC. It has held up amazingly for me and held its color. I even have chips in the paint on the hood of my car from truck debris but the plasti dip is still in perfect condition.

Easy and cheap is why i use it! i dont find it too bad to remove it, once it gets beat up just rip it right off and use the other half of your 5 dollar can to respray it! to each his own.

how did it hold up on the forks? i have my peg brackets done, and my headlight brackets done along with the other circular silver parts on the bike. i can tell the left peg bracket isnt going to hold up well from rubbing on it when shifting and whatnot, but i wouldve thought the forks would hold up for a little while at least. i havent done them yet but that was going to be my next plastidip attempt. i like the murdered blacked out look myself

I love the look myself but have a weirdness to me where it just doesn't feel like the correct way to do it. Is rather break it down and have it done permanently. I've heard different cases of it sucking and being great

I think it looks ok. Some parts look fine with regular spray paint too (plastics and such). What I really don't like is the way it feels. Maybe I did something wrong but it feels like it just wants to hold onto my fingers when I run them across a part that I've sprayed.

I use plastidip on my r1, rock chips are evident but easily fixxed.

Cant go wrong with plastidip, local shops here just got authorized dealer status, I know hes plastidipped a 100k mercedes and a new 300k lambo, the stuff can be added with pearls and clearcoat and looks really really nice - professionaly done If done right

My grom wheels r plastipped white

I believe in doing things the right way and in my mind doing it right means properly painting it or powder coating it not everyone will agree with my option but that's why it's a opinion ..

i bought some early on.. but i never went ahead with it.. powdercoating is awesome but when u have a lot of plastics then you have to either paint DIY or get someone who knows what they are doing to do it.. thats why i got the plastic dip spray to change things up while I decided what i wanted to do.. now that honda came out with the blue panels.. i have scratched my original idea to use the plastic dip.. i might try it on my ruckus battery box..

its a way to try out their different colors, their pearlizers - their clear coating - their iridescense

if you dont like it, simple its not permanent and it peels right off

i would say its about the same cost of powder coating pieces or getting a full paint job for your car, however the benefit of it - is that it is not permanent

so when you are ready to sell, it can be reverted back to OEM, where the used vehicle segment buyers PREFER OEM unmodified stuff

you win by customizing your grom to your liking in a non permanent way

also if the new buyer does not like your custom style, you revert it back to OEM, therefor you win again, not everyone wants the specific things you changed on your bike,

go lookat the pro stuff, you cant tell it was plastidipped unless you are inquiring about it, the lambo i saw i thought it was vinyl wrapped - nope it was plasidipped

Around my way plasti dip is used extensively on ghetto cruisers and other road fairing abominations so I really wanted nothing to do with it. However, I decided to paint the silver boomerangs black with plasti dip just “to see how it looks” as others have stated, and be able to change my mind if I didn’t like it. I am not a professional by any means but I do know my way around rattle cans. I did about 7 light coats with around 40 mins set time in between and I am actually very happy with the results, shocked in fact as to how nice it turned out. I have a big old bucket of the stuff for dipping tools (was considering just dunking them for a minute) but this was the first time I used the stuff in spray can. If done right, it creates a nice subtle texture that broke up the all black front end just enough for my liking, so I left it dipped, installed and am happy with the results. How it holds up we will see…

I will say this though, I do want to get the silver pegs done black but those will be powdered as there is no way plasti dip will hold up on that surface, it is just not what it was meant for.
