Im going to do a build thread on putting an OG/SF Motor in my 2023, some will ask, why not just buy an OG/SF, well I already have several, like the looks of the new bike, but the motor is limited, and Im looking for more than its 149cc potential. To start with, to put a old motor in the new chassis, you have to relocate the top mount, also the back of the motor is wider by about 1/4" where the two motor mounts go, so you either narrow the case or widen the frame, I chose to widen the frame so I can swap motors with my other Groms without having to keep track of spacers etc...

Sick! That's the only thing that sucks about the new model is with the new position of the head studs, it looks like 150ish cc is going to be the limit for bbks. Looking forward to following this build.

This is good stuff. I have a 2023 monkey and was sadden to learn about the limiting bore size. I so was planning on a 181/183 but NOOO. Let us know what your planned end result (HP ect.) will be. I'm so tempted to try a 300 swap. The problem is when I think about this, I usually end up thinking of just buying a 300 as a second bike. Well, actually it would be my forth.

Motor is in it and running, rideable, here is a list of things you need to do to complete the swap this swap
1. Move the top motor mount, or buy the Chimera motor mount brackets
2. Trim the clutch side engine mounting lugs (on the case where the two bolts go through) 1/4" or widen the frame
3. Swap a 22-23 stator into the OG/SF housing, it bolts in and now you dont need to cut the connector off and lengthen the wires
4 Trim the gear position indicator up and make a hold down bracket, if you font care about the gear indicator, just leave the OG/SF one in it and you'll have the neutral light
5 Cut the end off the OG/SF VSS indicator and solder the connector from the 22-23 to it, the wires are the same color but they are a different function (see pic)
6. You can use the 22-23 starter sub harness, but its a bit short, the one off a OG/SF plugs directly into the wiring harness, but you have the repin the connector, the +/- are reversed
7. You have to clearance the clutch cover housing in the rear where the boss for a kick starter goes, it will hit the brake arm, or if you have a aftermarket cover, space the right footpeg bracket out some
8. You have to use the return throttle cable from a OG/SF the 22-23 one is to short internally, they are cheap i just replaced both push and pull

Thats it, its a very simple swap
