Hi all. I just got my Grom and need to modify the shift lever to work better with my prosthetic as the toes tend to point outwards slightly. I want a longer shift peg and I am considering drilling and tapping a hole to thread a bolt in and get about flush with the foot peg but am unsure if it is hollow (which would give me little thread engagement and I would then consider just cutting off the peg and using a through bolt and spacers as my peg which would probably look nicer) Does anyone know the construction of it?

I did not see any aftermarket shifters with extended pegs.

If you’re going to be messing about with the shift lever, I can recommend the Chimera shift shaft support: Chimera Billet Aluminum Shift Shaft Support- Honda Grom Monkey 125 2014-2020 and the IMS shift lever: IMS Honda Grom Shift Lever as I have them on my Grom.

With that shift lever, I believe you can tap a bolt into the folding nub, and extend it without rendering your shift shaft vulnerable to accidental damage from drops and crashes. If you have a buddy who welds, welding an extension onto that folding bit would be even better (and less fiddly).

Although my need was less serious I was considering this lever which has some adjustment, though probably not much.

In the end I settled for improving the action with a ball jointed link replacing the bent bar and i am very happy with that for my minor arthritic ankle and foot condition.

Turns out it is solid. And yes, bending or breaking in a crash is on my mind. I've got a nice black oxide bolt and some spacers to keep the diameter similar to the stock one and push it out an extra inch and a half. It will look a little funky though but be operable.

I'll check out those options linked, they sure look nicethan what I'm doing but we'll see how this goes first.

If you do go for the drill and tap method, you wont have much in the way of thread engagement but it will work just as a through bolt and nut, just check your clearances. My only advise is whichever solution you choose I highly recommend Loctite as having the toe peg fall off halfway through a ride leaving you with the need to perform some fancy footwork that would put a ballerina to shame is not something I would recommend, ask me how I know...

The sf brace won’t fit on the new grom. Gcraft makes one for the new grom though

I did the koso rose joint too and the gcraft shaft brace with oem lever and I’m happy with the feel.
