When is it safe to fill up tank on first fill....the last bar? the last bar blinking? Or don't wait that low? I've heard with cars it's not good to run that low to fill up.

What are you using to protect and clean your plastics and overall bike parts against the elements (sun, rain, etc)? I was thinking of using the Pro Hondaline...Hondabrite, etc

It's good to know what others are using......Thanks!

The first question.

IMO its urban legend that running low on fuel somehow damages the fuel system. People must do it all the time. Are they posting "I waited till the tank was empty and it RUINED MY MOTORCYCLE/CAR!!!"

No they are not!

.45 gallons remain in the tank when down to the last bar. People are consistantly getting 100 mpg. So that gives you 45 miles. A good time to fill up!

Having said that I would not be leaving my tank that empty for a week or more at a time. That promotes condensation and thats not good...

the thing to worry about when the tank gets low is any particulate that is in the tank doesn't have as much fuel to slosh around in when the volume is lower, so your fuel filter can possibly get clogged. I highly doubt there is much in these tanks from the factory that would cause the filter to clog, so don't worry.
I had an extra tank for my old KTM that I never used but stored in the attic for two year before I sold it all. If I would have put that on, I would have cleaned it out prior to installation for just this reason.

I usually fill up around the 100 mile mark +/-. I never run any of my vehicles to fumes because then I HAVE to get gas. I prefer to get gas when it is convenient for me not because I am on fumes. Never worried about damage to the system.

I use old fashion carnuba based wax.
