Decided to remove the STOCK supplied spark plug NGK CPR6EA-9 and replaced it with NGK CPR7EA-9. Since most of my riding is WOT at 50-65mph all day I wanted a plug that could handle the HEAT a little better.

I did notice that the new plug gave the Grom a little get up and go, not sure if it is because of the new plug or because the grom has under 300 miles on the ODM.

Riding that GROM like I stole it. WOT:big smile:

Mine came with a Denso plug stock. I went with the cooler NGK as well though I can't say I noticed any difference in how it runs. I've had a lot of issues with Denso's fouling and causing odd running issues in the past.

As your mileage goes up when new, the speed will increase as the engine breaks in. My Grom has done that.

Oh ok yea nothing wrong with learning. No one knows everything of course.
Id say you are more likely to notice fuel economy rather then even the most minute power from a spark plug on the grom. Bc these iridium plugs do run cooler obviously. Too bad o
don't see any for the grom from NGK

and Stroked, I thought all groms were ngk as well. I even think the grom manual claims they are ngk and to replace with that.

Generally speaking, the grom's come with a Denso plug (U20EPR9/U22EPR9) however the NGK plug for the like Denso plugs are CPR6EA-9/ CPR7EA-9.
This is from the Service Manual. :cool2:

after researching a ton on this subject i realized i needed to run a colder plug based on my riding style.

my setup on the grom is stock besides chimera cold air intake, shortened oem stock muffler with baffle cut out. removed the back tail fender, have the upgraded led lights. also removed those ugly stock mirrors..im running 110 octane turbo blue race fuel for the hell of it.

ok now to the spark plugs i came across after my research. they are Brisk performance, here is the link

Amazon.com: BRISK PERFORMANCE SPARK PLUG Replaces NGK CR9E - w/ 360-degree electrode SPMXAHZ200: Automotive

with stock spark plug on the same stretch of road and same set up i was struggling to hit 62mph, after changing to this spark plug, i just hit 67mph, same stretch of road same day, and i still had more. the idle and throttle response are almost unbelievable with this new plug. they cost 3 times as much as NGK iridiums but 100% worth the $18

also im 6'1" 175lb guy

i highly recommend them to anyone looking for new plugs, im not affiliated with this company whatsoever, i just never saw anything about these plugs on this forum, but i did on others and wanted to share with the fellow gromers

thanks for the tip, so you did try other NGK spark plugs such as the ones that I used and you did a back to back ride switching between the two types of spark plug.

for your second test try the NGK CR8EIX or the CR9EIX. I find that the CR9EIX works great in keeping my engine temp down and riding WOT.

The NGK CR9EIX cost about $10.55
The NGK CR8EIX cost about $11.99

For real comparison testing take your brisk performance spark plug and do a run down your favorite road after that run remove the Brisk plug and install a NGK CR9EIX and do the same ride on the same road on the same day as not to have changes in the air Temp and other conditions. You will be surprise to see how the NGK CR9EIX stacks up to the Brisk spark plug.

I just got back from a 29+ mile ride from San Jose to San Mateo today and the grom ran great with that plug plus going WOT the temp got as high as 230F at the stop lights and this is with a 170 BBK with no external oil cooler and our summer temp is around 75-80F.
