I'm running the Michelin Pilot Power Pure SC's and so far I love them. They are the 1st dual compound 12" tire so you get the best of both worlds, long lasting compound in the middle and the sticky icky on the sides for when you're railing. I've ran the same tires on my big bikes for years and have had nothing but good luck so far, knock on wood haha.
I'm sure they'll be the consummate debate over tire width but the 130-70 already looks pinched on the 3.5" rim.
A 140 would add nothing but more rotating mass.
Got 2500 miles on mine now but binned the crap tyres after 1000 miles before they spat me off in the wet. Went for the michelin pilot power 2ct in standard sizes and they're a world apart from the vee rubber. It always felt like the rear was drifting out on the original tyres when cornering in the wet, I think they played mind games with me.
I have power pure sc waiting to be installed when I get my Grom. I did go with the 140 rear tire. I will report back as to how it fits and performs. It's 10mm wider (.39") and the extra mass is 2.8 pounds. Okay so rotating mass is around 30% more. but I am going to be saving weight by removing the stock midpipe, rear fender, huge blinkers, etc. I will weigh all the parts I take off and see how much I saved. Keeping in mind that rotating mass has a larger affect on the bikes quickness also.
I put the Michelins on mine yesterday. Should have done that the day I got it. The tires actually hook up, feel planted and don't chirp when whooping on them. Best hundred bucks I've spent on this thing yet.
