Grom dies when you put it in gear

I recently installed rearsets, a chimera intake, a hindle exhaust, and I took the rear tire off to make mounting easier. That's the state the bike is in now. I noticed when I was testing the install with the chain off and rear tire off and all the new parts that the bike died when I put it in gear. It only runs when it's in neutral. I plan to put the bike back together tonight but I was wondering did I screw up the kick stand kill switch? If I did how do I bypass it or with the rear sets or tire and chain off did I miss some connection to the kick stand kill switch?

Your kick stand switch is wired wrong, put your rear of the grom on a rear stand and work on the kick stand kill switch until you got it wired correctly.

    good luck

How could it be wired wrong? I didn't touch the kill stand switch at all when I was working on the bike. It worked fine until I installed the rearsets, intake, and exhaust. It seems odd that any of those things would cause a problem. Do the rearsets have to hook up to the kick stand switch at all?

did you pinch any cables when you installed the new rearsets? no ignition when in gear is the kickstand switch 99 times out of 100. go inspect the switch on the stand and the wiring associated.

Yeah I'll do that thanks. It's a race bike so maybe I'll just take the kick stand and the switch off completely.

not a bad plan. to bypass the kickstand switch you need to connect the two wires together.

just remember that with it bypassed you can start the bike in gear with the sidestand down (if you pull the clutch) and ride away with the sidestand down
