Clutch no longer works after oil change

OK, so I did my first oil change today at 600 miles. I cracked open the casing and pulled it out just enough to clean the little screen inside, and put it all back together. I had to pop out the clutch cable of course to get the case to come off enough..

Now the clutch doesn't work. The lever has absolutely no spring to it at all, no resistance. The little lever at the end of the clutch cable seems lose as hell and the whole thing lifts up. I am gonna guess this isn't normal. But now I really do not know what to do. What happened? I didn't even adjust the clutch cable or mess with anything internally.

I have since tried to adjust the clutch all the way in and out at the lever and then at the master adjuster and it's still non-functional. Any help would be great. I'd hate to have to drain the oil and everything again to go back in there. Just put a quart of Motul in there..

    ^^^^^^yep that is what happened^^^^^^^

look on the cover and see when you activate the clutch lever you should see the plunger move or go in and out.

    good luck

Here you go Gonk, courtesy of Photogromers video. His right thumb is basically pointing right at the black plunger.

Oy vey... I knew it, but didn't want to believe it.. So dumb question, do you guys think if I drain the new oil out, I can put it back in? I only ran the engine for about 5 minutes after putting everything back together.

    Thanks guys!

Same here as well, just don't contaminate the oil in a dirty pan or anything, lol

This is one of the main benefits of the aftermarket clutch cover. Not having to remove that freaking side cover every oil change. Been there, dude. Taking that thing back off is a bummer.

I really thought about getting that Kitaco clutch cover about a month ago, but I can't blow the money on it at the moment. It's going back on my shopping list now though..

Hey guys!! Wanted to just say thanks again! This morning I took it all apart again, and just as you all said, that little plunger was sitting at the bottom of the casing. Probably fell out as I pulled the casing off this morning because I felt something fall as I pulled it off.. But everything is back in and properly working. Works like a charm now! Just need to adjust the lever a bit, works great but just needs a little adjustment over the next couple days probably.
