I will be doing re-lubing my chain this weekend. I guess I should take my spark plug out and check it out then too. Now which plug on the motor is the spark plug? Also, should I unplug my battery and replug it in to do a reset like some say? I recently installed the KNR1100 and removed the airbox.

Will a regular socket fit it? I just pull the rubber piece off it? Only spark plugs I have ever removed are on my old truck and those just pulled off if I remember right. Not sure if bikes are the same way.

Same. Just yank the plug wire & cap off and unscrew the thing. Also I don't think simply disconnecting the battery resets the ECU, there is a special procedure in your manual.

Ok, I'll read into that then. Is that supposed to recalibrate the air/fuel mixture ratio or something?

It basically wipes its memory so it doesn't know anything then it gradually re-learns your riding habits and adjusts fueling accordingly.

After 1000 miles. I assume this isn't that great. Does this look like it could be running lean though?

Looks about right to me, if you see white ash like color it is lean, if the porcelain looks a little brown you are ok, if black you are running rich.
