100% your fault. Kinda makes that 10 seconds it would have taken to check it seem miniscule

It's a mistake. We all make them everyday. You, or no one else, was physically hurt as a result. Worst case it costs you money to remedy. Lesson learned. Move forward.

Crazy reading stories like this, its a machine, it only holds qt, it should be changed every 800 mile after the first change at 200 miles or less....I did mine at 100,300,600,..
checked before every ride along with tire pressures

The postie 110CC bikes have a very similar engine. If Peter Steven's or Honda won't do a warranty deal see if you can find an independent mechanic to swap out the cylinder and piston for a used set if that's all you can afford. It's a 2 hour job or so.

FYI, this thread is almost two years old (in case people are thinking about replying without checking the dates). I'm sure the OP has moved on.

Regardless if it is an old post. There is a lesson to be learned here for the new-to-motorcycle owner/rider.

Read your owners manual. There really is some good info in there for the newbie. I would venture to guess that most of us in here has not leafed through theirs, myself included. But then again, most of those that have not, consider themselves experienced in such matters.

No such thing as ride, ride and ride some more, without some maintenance. Might be as simple as lubing a chain, or adjusting a clutch cable. The more you ride & then put it away "wet", the sooner the heartbreak.

Check your oil, dipstick. Common knowledge dictates that a new engine will use more oil than a one that has been broken in properly.

Change your oil frequently. Our beloved Groms live at a pretty high RPM for most of its life. Treat it to a change of oil. Hey, it is only a quart...
