    Goon Rides' OG Grom Build

Hey! I recently made a thread called "Insane $7500 build... anything I'm missing?". Well I gathered some more info, I added some stuff to the list, and I also removed everything. On this thread I'll go over everything Ima do to the grom! Here's the list of parts that I ordered/will order (filled point is what I already ordered):

    • JT 35T Sprocket: $24.00
    • JT 14T Counter Sprocket: $13.00
    • Smoked Tail Light (Integrated Turn Signals): $15.00
    • Purple CNC Levers: $22.00
    • Black Foot Pegs: $25.00
    • Black Grips + Bar Ends: $11.00
    • Bar End Mirrors: $11.00
    • D.I.D. 420 x 124 Link Gold Chain: $49.00
    • Black Mirror Caps: $11.00
    • Pro Taper Stealth Bar Pad: $23.00
    • Purple Wheel Tape: $10.00
    • Kustom Canz Metallic Purple Paint: $27.00

    • 10W-40 Oil (Clean Spinner + Screen): $10.00
    • NGK CPR7EA-9 Spark Plug: $8.00
    • TST Industries Low Mount Exhaust Bracket: $35.00
    • TST Industries Front Turn Signals: $16.00
    • Yoshimura RS2 Exhaust: $531.00
    • DynoJet Power Commander 5: $320.00
    • Core Moto Lavender Front Brake Line: $69.00
    • Core Moto Lavender Rear Brake Line: $69.00
    • Brake Fluid: $10.00
    • Motoseat Two Tone Seat Cover: $52.00
    • Air intake (Chimera): $135.00
    • YSS Adjustable Rear Shock: $162.00
    • EBC Complete Clutch Kit: $111.00
    • Koso Enhanced Lifter Plate: $36.00
    • Lock Nut Tool: $10.00
    • OEM Right Crankcase Gasket: $10.00
    • Rustolem Flat Black Paint: $12.00
    • 80Grit Sandpaper: $7.00
    • 220Grit Sandpaper: $7.00
    • 1000Grit Sandpaper: $10.00
    • BikeMaster Battery: $33.00
    • G2 Quick Turn Throttle Tube: $45.00

Now my plan is to make a build series on YT, and make the bike 'Goon Rides" themed! Each bullet point here is a video I'll be making and adding to the Build's playlist:

    • Paint Fairings + Extras
    • Oil + Spark Plug + Screen + Clutch Plates + Springs + Lifter
    • Turn Signals + Tail Light + Bar Pad + Mirror Caps + Grips + Levers + mirrors + Footpegs + G2 Throttle Tube
    • Sprockets + chain + Wheel tape
    • Exhaust
    • Tuner
    • Brake lines
    • Air intake
    • Seat cover + Battery
    • REVEAL THE BIKE

I'll be painting my fairings with a Rustoleum Aerosol Can.. I know you shouldn't paint plastic like that, but I can't find a set of matte black plastics for the old gen. I'll sand it with 80grit, then 200grit, then primer it, and finally 2-3 coats of flat black paint:

    Paint Matte Black:
    Body fairings
    Side fairings
    Rear Cowl
    Front fender
    Headlight fairing
    Inner Fairings
    Gas tank
    Rearsets

Same thing, except gloss metallic purple!
    Paint Purple:

Purple gear shifter arm + brake pedal
    Purple Front Brake Reservoir Cap
    Purple gas cap
Purple Garnish’s (two circles on side)
    turn signal cowls

This will deff be a fun build! Feel free to ask questions, and deff subscribe to the YouTube channel to stay updated! Goon Rides! https://www.youtube.com/goonrides

I'm confused why you didn't just continue this build in the other thread where it started.

I'm not the lever police, but if you're going all out on a build why in the hell would you use $22 levers?

For your plastics did you ever consider wrap instead of paint?

Because I have changed many many things, and just wanted to restart. I bought those $22 levers because they're already purple, I wouldn't have to get them painted. As for the plastics, I would 100% wrap it, but I live in Los Angeles where everyone wraps a car, and everyone is asking about $300-$400 to get it done. Please realize that I'm 16 years old, and I suck absolute ass at wrapping lolol. So I guess I'm spray painting plastic (I'm really good at painting tho, so I'm fine haha). All that's left to order is the clutch kit, the pc5, and the Yoshi pipe... yeah that's the most important, but also the most expensive hehehe

I think the bite of your super fancy ultra deluxe clutch setup will get you what you want as far as wheelies go. Going 14/35 will definitely make it easier as well. Bet you between the clutch and sprockets alone, it's gonna throw 2nd gear up nicely. Excellent all around sprocket combo for street and lot riding.

Looking forward to the bike reveal!

Me being a cheap bastard, I like to spend money wisely and looking over your parts list this is what I would change. Remember xmas is coming up and a lot of MC stores/vendors have discount xmas sales or ask the dealer or vendor when they are they going to have their sales.

1.Sprocket, the stock sprocket is 15/34 so the set I would get is 14 and 16 for the front and 32 for the rear, I think PBI makes the best strong light weight sprockets
    https://shop.pbisprockets.com/catego...1?categoryId=4

2.Best money spent and upgrade would be the Kitaco clutch side cover, this will remove the heavy oil spinner and give you a real oil filter unit and also a way to add a external oil cooler via ports on the cover.
    https://www.steadygarage.com/store/k...honda-grom-125

    3. For ECU I would save up a little more money and get the Aracer mini-2T or mini-5, reason why is that you can find used ones on the net for good price, the PCV I had and I had two of them for both my groms and when I changed over to Aracer what a difference and EZ to program. Just remember with the Aracer you will need the 4 cable unit and also good to get the AF1 which is the autotune unit.

    3. Spray paint is ok, I use it on my plastics to change the colors. I use Walmart to buy my spray can paint unless it is high heat paint than I go to the local auto parts store.

    4. I would get the O-ring chain and I think they make them in 420 size, I have them on both my 2014 groms, less adjustment more riding time
    https://www.amazon.com/420V-120-Ring.../dp/B006O83OHS

    5. Save your money on brake rotors, the front and rear OEM brakes are fine, just upgrade the brake hoses, and if you want bling on different color painted rotor just have them powder coated the color you want or paint it yourself with High heat paint.

    6. If you are going to be doing a lot of wheelies, do yourself a favor and get the modified HD oil pump with the copper tube extended pick up unit.
