fI CONTROLLER HELP
New here and would love some input\thoughts re a full spectrum Fi controller. My current build is 1mm over with a BUNCH of "trade secret" mods dropping 12.6HP to the rear wheel. My fuel map is crazy lean with the PC V...at 100% near redline 18.6-1. The PC V was a mistake I feel, as most of you know it is limited in the cells available to control so I'm looking for a awesome controller to help me get the most of my OE cylinder build. From a quick search on the WWW. I think I should be looking at the SP Takegawa Fi Type X or aRacer mini 5...I don't care about the BT options. Any one here know much about either or have a better option? Being able to control the full fi map, timing and rev range are my top priorities.
Thanks for your consideration!
Run 5 PC V with Yosh full exhaust
Run 15 1mm over bore (130cc) with a bunch of other stuff
Hi and welcome.
I agree that the PCV is not ideal but you should be able to tune it, it's capable of adding plenty of fuel, especially on a light setup like yours.
I think you either have an install problem, tune problem or hardware problem (injector too small?).
No problem, I can tune in the cells i mentioned...we pulled the plug on tuning this build because it was lean all over. Between 5500 and 7000 it was 15-16.5:1. I'm not wasting my time with the PC V...please if you have information I inquired about please let me know.
I can tune my 181cc 4 valve from idle to 11K RPM to be way too rich with the PCV and I'm pretty sure it needs way more fuel than your 130.
Well, if you feel like spending more money I'd go with the aRacer (with autotune, splitter, display...). The Take tuner is still a piggyback and there seems to be little support for these.
PC V is closed loop from idle to portions of 60% throttle then acess to 80 and 100%, maybe in France its different?...here in the US we only have access to these cells. Please go to Dynojet and look up install for Grom...specifally last page.Have you used either of the units I have inquired about? Looking for someone with first hand experience, if that wasn't clear I'm sorry.

It's the same unit that's sold in France.
You should be able to tune the 100% part with the PCV, 0-60% can be set with the WB2. However if you don't have the WB2 yet it might still be time to change to another tuner if you feel like the PCV won't cut it.

lol unless those "trade secrets" are restricting your fueling, you must be doing something wrong. PCV has been used on much more demanding setups than yours, without the problems you listed.

Can you please post the fuel map you are currently running...sounds like you got the Midas touch!
Here is mine!
On a side note I really need information regarding my original question...want to buy a new controller this week. Anybody else have useful information regarding this?
You are loosing site of the issue here I know I can tune the 80-100% and make my map better and get more HP but I don't like the fact the PC V wont allow for tuning in the lower throttle areas. If I tuned my current map with the PC V my Grom would have broken the Dyno!
Looking for information on better controllers.

I am surprised no one has yet weighed-in regarding the ARacer products. The ARacer ECUs (especially the RC1 and possibly the Mini5) seem to represent the very high-end in terms of features and tune-ability. These at NOT my areas of expertise, but if the OP is really going for optimization, I would think that ARacer is the path.
Perhaps the ARacer users can provide some guidance to the OP?
