All clear now. I noticed the difference in the charts, but when I read "the intakes made very close to the exact same hp with the lid off" I was a little confused. I now realize that you mean that both intakes benefit from a lack of restriction (and maybe some amount or ram air effect if you were using fans). In my eyes, this would mean that you could potentially see the same 0.5hp increase if you were to install that larger intake tube that I posted. I suspect that the two 180* turns the air makes into and through the stock airbox does not help, but with a big enough opening you should be able to pick up most of that 0.5hp.

    Thanks for the input.

At the 100 mile mark I decided to throw on a PCV that I had taken off our old shop grom. Was just laying around, the extra 500rpm is nice when on the highway drafting cars.
    Blue is stock 0 miles
Green is with the yosh rs2 and intake mod with lid removed
Red is PCV with the yoshi pipe/intake lid removed map from dynojet's website

Ignore the spikes in tq, for whatever reason when I transfer the data from the dyno computer to the shop computer sometimes there's a small glitch.

Upgraded my cylinder head to the finbro big valve head (26mm) with intake side port matched to the koso 30.5mm intake manifold. This was on maybe 1-2 miles of learn time with the ecu, I will have it back on the dyno this weekend after 100+ miles are put on the bike which should help fix that torque dip some. I'll get some AFR's this weekend
Red is my koso 170 with the stock head, airbox lid on
Green is the same with the airbox lid off
Blue is the new head with airbox lid off

Impressive change with the head. Did you need to cut valve reliefs? or wait. is that the 'biiig' valve? or the slightly bigger valved head? if its the slightly bigger, that's pretty impressive. But then again you've got to ask, is it the porting or valves that made the big difference?

Wow I butchered that, it's their upgraded head, not the really BIG one though. 25.5intake, 26.5exhaust. This one is port matched for my koso intake manifold unlike the one I did on the 125 build recently. I did not cut valve reliefs. It is a blast to ride, 75mph sitting upright on the highway is awesome. A bunch of our highway area is 60-65 so I can really have some passing power now. I let probably a dozen people ride it last night. Almost all of them have groms, they loved it. I've noticed it pulls a lot smoother now that I put some miles on it, can't wait to get it on the dyno this weekend. Tonight I'm finally starting a 170 4v build. Thinking about doing a minor video while making it.
Gains, tough to say, probably a combination of everything really, stiffer valve springs as well. I have 2 stock heads now, I'm going to send one off to millennium technologies for a port and polish job along with matching the intake side to my koso intake manifold like the current. I'll be curious the difference

    frick I hate IE.

Anyway, that's the head I thought it was. Impressive though. It would be interesting to see what difference the 31/something valved head makes. But with that, it needs valve reliefs. Gl with the 170 4v. It will riiip, but if you really wanna make the most of it, youre gonna need to rev to nearly 11k.

Thanks for doing all of this testing, keep this thread alive! Cant wait to see everything else you run. I'm going from airbox mod only to finbro head, flattop piston, kitaco cam, finbro ecm + pcx injector, ar cheapo exhaust, my own airbox mod+ (rad hose, k&n filter, 2" aeroport for subwoofers in front lid), and port matching my stock intake manifold to the finbro if they arent already . Looks like I can expect 3-5 hp gain up top!?

Scott I would say so, if you're near columbia MO bring it on by and we'll give it a dyno! I do plan on one of the bikes soon to do intake, exhaust, ported tb, ported intake manifold, and the finbro superhead with koso camshaft. I've been pretty curious of that setup for awhile. That setup you mentioned should be a screamer!

Highly recommend koso camshaft for anyone who wants to add a bit more top end to the bike. If you look at the graphs it really helps build and hold the HP steady in the 7k-10k+ rpm range instead of falling on its face around 7000-7500ish like the stock camshaft.

Some updates for ya. Currently working on a ton of stuff right now so hopefully I'll get this thread updated soon, would like to start doing videos too. This weekend the 170 4v is throwing on the ARACER RC1 with autotune so it'll be quite a fun project for me
