Question Which exhausts exists that meet my criteria?

    Hi,

I'm looking for another exhausts, the last change I'll probably do to my monkey.

I'm looking for the following, in order of priority

    1. Better sound, deeper, definitely not obnoxiously loud, want to stay friends with neighbours and do not want to get pulled over
    2. Retain the cat, want to avoid getting pulled over and bike being impounded if they see I removed the cat
    3. Stock look, would like to retain the stock heatshield

I know Yoshimura make a slipon version of the RS3 and a slipon GP Magnum, but neither can be used with the stock heatshield.
I know the takegawa STD is basically the same as stock but without the cat, which is exactly the problem.

Any other option out there that would delivery me my three requirements?

Anybody have experience with the GPMagnum slipon, don't you get burned without the heatshield?

I now the Akrapovic also comes in a slipon version and retains the heatshield but look-wise I think it is too long and don't really like twin exhaust on a single cylinder bike.

    Thx,
    Stef.

There really aren't any options since you want to retain the stock heatshield and cat. That only leaves you with the Akra. There are other options like the ones you mention, but none meet all of your criteria.

I'd buy whatever non cat exhaust you like best and run it.

Keep your stock exhaust intact so if you get caught, put it on, get it inspected, and then put the other one back on again.

Changing exhausts is easy. It's only a few minutes and a few bolts.

I'd go with the Takegawa Standard, it's pretty silent so the chance of getting arrested is small. If you do get arrested it looks like stock so I really don't think they'll notice anything.
It would take a Monkey expert to tell the difference and if mister officer is a Monkey expert I really doubt he'll be difficult about anything because Monkey experts are cool guys, we all know that! lol

I ‘m thinking in the same direction. Almost leaving on the family holiday so I have a few weeks to think about it and then I’ll order one of them. Leaning to the takegawa.

    Is this the one?

Pretty clean looking. From the large size of the muffler and the small diameter exit it should be reasonably quiet.

It's a stock looking exhaust on a Monkey so it's a bit more like this:

Thanks for the correction. That one looks so stock I don't think anyone would notice there's no cat.
