    The bike is brand new. I just got it. I have only put 42 miles on it.
    So, sounds like it may be a break in issue.

    more than likely.

    give it some time to let the pads bed in before doing anything drastic.

    Are you saying that it isn't possible to adjust the pivot distance without replacing the perch?
    If you just want the clutch to engage closer to the grip, you just need to adjust it per the manual page Stellio78 posted. I also felt like the clutch was too far "out there" for my taste, so an adjustment was one of the first things I did. No parts needed.
