I'm about to buy a Monkey. Yellow, no ABS.
Before I go in to negotiate, I thought I would see what you all paid for your Monkeys.
I'm paying all cash.
I'm in California and this is the breakdown that I've been able to figure out.
MSRP $3999
Tax 6.5% $260
Destination $190
Tag/Title $100
Set up Fee $300
Document Fee $100
$4949
I realize the dealer needs to make some money too. That will probable be another $300 to $500.
So the bike will probably be over $5000 out the door?
Are my expectations right?
Different states and locales have differing taxes. I bought out of state, then later paid our taxes in state. My price was as I said, plus our state and local sales taxes as charged later. So the OTD price was $3,898.00. Then we paid $395.68 for licensing and whatever. I do not finance toys, we paid cash.
Ok so just to wrap up my quest and to shed light to some members here: Im in the OC so Honda dealer in HB is asking $6.2K for a 22 Monkey. I ended up going for a 21 and found one brand new no abs for $4.9 in Carson. Snatched and paid all cash, and ordered a bunch of parts. Couldnt be happier. I changed the camshaft, intake, exhaust and ecu so shouldnt be that far off from a 22 with the more elastic engine/gears. So, my advice if someone is going to mod the bike and doesnt mind the red or blue colorways, get a 21 and save some $!
Just bought today a 2022 monkey, out the door was 5500. Tried to negotiate but they only had one and there was a guy behind me that also wanted it. So I said let’s do it. I think I overpaid by 500 bucks.
Hi all. I just bought a 2022 Monkey today here in southern Ontario. Very excited. I should be able to pick it up early April, depending on the weather. I’ve never ridden one, but all the reviews I’ve seen are very positive. All the Honda dealers in my area are sold out of the small allotment they received for this year. I happened to get lucky and called just after someone had cancelled their order. I paid $6198 Cdn. plus tax for a total of $7059. No negotiating. It seems a lot for such a small bike, but that doesn’t seem to be impacting sales!
My 2021 non abs Monkey was $5400.00 out the door, $3995.00 plus tax, title, reg, freight and prep, the usual charges.
I have got 3 new bikes from them all with the same fee's so they did not jack up the prices.
If they had a glut of bikes on the floor, you might be able to get a better deal, but not now!
Got my new 2023 Grom a couple of weeks ago for $4600 CAD
Traded my old bike in so the taxes are offset
Didn't realize this is a Monkey thread (sorry newbie mistake); originally wanted a Monkey, they had a used 2022 with less than 1000 miles on it but they wanted $6200 CAD
When I got my 2021 there were none to be found within 1,000 miles of me, I paid $4,900 OTD in California when I accidentally stumbled on one at a dealer far from home, bought it on the spot. I have wanted one since the late 60's, bought a used 50 for $175 in the 90's but yeah, I'm old so I just paid. The most fun bike I've ever had.
There's a waiting list for the Monkey but they had 2 Groms left, I guess this dealer was clearing them out for 2024 so I got lucky.
90's lol...i think that's when I bought my first bike, Kawasaki EX500, dropped it 50ft away from the dealership cuz some jerk cut me off and it had started to rain.
